The incumbent Progressive Conservative government was defeated by the Liberal opposition after holding power for eleven years. The 2015 Prince Edward Island general election was held May 4, 2015, to elect members of the 65th General Assembly of Prince Edward Island.

Perry is a direct descendant of 19th century Speaker of the PEI Legislature Stanislaus Francis Perry. It is near the town of Alberton.
